Video: XO is for Hope - But will it Work?

Mission Statement: To create educational opportunities for the world's poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning. When children have access to this type of tool they get engaged in their own education. They learn, share, create, and collaborate. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future. One Laptop per Child.

And after reading and watching thought this was a great idea, but as I researched a little more, I was reminded of the flip side:

"I see so many things wrong with this. First of all there are hungry children lets feed them first. Two what if, for some unknown reason, all the world electronics stopped working or they are in a place where it doesn't work. They need to know the basics reading writing and arithmetic if they don't then what wait for a computer to appear somewhere.

I believe there are dangers in hooking kids up to the Internet, am I the only one here worried about that??? YOU DONT NEED A COMPUTER TO SURVIVE, just common knowledge. Let no child left behind without common knowledge. Computers won’t save the world people do and I banking on the fact that people will continue to work together."
