News: Auditions - 'WasteMan - The Movie!'

We wrote the poem, and it’s been performed in front of audiences across the Capital, resulting in a wide spectrum of reactions - ranging from squeals of delight to disgruntled daggers of disdain. Now it’s time for you, the WasteMan lover, hater or follower, to get involved!

Comfort, Dúbb’l yoo T & Socialize Media are making a music video to accompany the poem ‘WasteMan’, and we’re looking for a host of characters, including 6 ‘WasteMen’ to play the part of Darren Thompson*.

You will need to be able to play the part of a 30 year old male (which means you don’t actually need to be 30, but must be able to pass for 30), and will be expected to enact a scene from the poem during the audition(s). You will also need to be available for rehearsals during May and filming during June 2009 (full schedule details to be confirmed at the auditions).

As most people will realise, being a ‘WasteMan’ is not restricted to any one ethnicity. Therefore, we’re seeking males from the following backgrounds:

Black African/British/Caribbean
White/European
Asian
Mixed Race
Oriental

‘WasteMan’s Baby Mother No. 2 aka Sue’ - Female (Age Appearance: 26-28) – Mixed Race

‘WasteMan’s Baby Mother No. 3’ - Female (Age Appearance: 30) – White/European or Asian

‘WasteMan’s Daughter No. 1 - Female (Age Appearance: 4) – Black (African/Caribbean/British)

‘WasteMan’s Daughter No. 2 - Female (Age Appearance: 4) - Mixed Race ‘WasteMan’s Son’ -
Male (Age Appearance: 8) – ethnicity flexible

Auditions will take place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th April, at a Central London location. Exact details will be confirmed on application.

If you are successful in securing an audition slot, you will be welcome to bring a short (no more than 5 minute) video clip of yourself performing. Formats acceptable are USB, DVD or Mobile Phone.
